Pottery Barn is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Associate Buyer to join our team and help us curate our bedding collection. As an Associate Buyer, you will work closely with our buying team to source, select, and develop high-quality products that will elevate our customers' bedrooms. To excel in this role, you must have a strong understanding of the bedding market, exceptional communication and analytical skills, and a creative mindset.   1. Collaborate with the buying team to develop and execute a strategic plan for the bedding collection.
  2. Conduct market research and stay updated on industry trends to identify potential new products and suppliers.
  3. Source and select high-quality bedding products that align with the Pottery Barn brand and customer preferences.
  4. Negotiate with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and maintain profit margins.
  5. Monitor product performance and make data-driven decisions to optimize assortment and drive sales.
  6. Partner with cross-functional teams such as design, merchandising, and marketing to create cohesive and compelling product assortments.
  7. Build and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products.
  8. Review and analyze sales data to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  9. Attend trade shows and buying trips to stay informed about the latest trends and products in the bedding market.
  10. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth and efficient buying process.
  11. Assist in developing and managing the budget for the bedding department.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve processes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  13. Uphold the Pottery Barn brand standards and contribute to the overall success of the company.
  14. Act as a brand ambassador and strive to provide exceptional customer service through product knowledge and expertise.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Retail Buying: The Ideal Candidate Should Have 2-3 Years Of Experience In Retail Buying, Preferably In The Home Decor Or Bedding Industry. They Should Have A Good Understanding Of Buying Processes, Vendor Relationships, And Product Assortment Planning.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: An Associate Buyer At Pottery Barn Should Possess Strong Analytical Skills To Interpret Sales Data And Market Trends To Make Informed Buying Decisions. They Should Be Able To Analyze Product Performance, Identify Opportunities For Growth, And Make Recommendations To Improve Sales And Profitability.

  • Creativity And Trend Awareness: The Associate Buyer Should Have A Creative Eye And A Pulse On Current Trends In The Home Decor And Bedding Industry. They Should Be Able To Identify Emerging Trends And Translate Them Into Product Assortments That Will Appeal To Pottery Barn's Target Customer.

  • Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As An Associate Buyer, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Building And Maintaining Relationships With Vendors. Therefore, Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills Are Essential To Negotiate Favorable Terms, Pricing, And Delivery Schedules With Vendors.

  • Organizational And Time Management Skills: A Successful Associate Buyer At Pottery Barn Should Be Highly Organized And Efficient In Managing Multiple Tasks And Deadlines.
