
Unit Secretary, Med Surg Post-Surgical

- Answer and direct phone calls, take messages, and relay messages to appropriate staff members.
- Greet and assist patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
- Maintain patient charts, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information.
- Organize and maintain unit supplies and equipment, restocking as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to schedule patient appointments and procedures.
- Monitor and order office supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels at all times.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Enter and update patient information in electronic medical records system.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, trainings, and other events for the unit.
- Communicate with other departments and external partners to ensure seamless patient care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of unit office and storage areas.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including safety and infection control protocols.
- Assist with data entry and record keeping for unit performance and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide administrative support to nursing staff and physicians as needed.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Unit Secretary Should Possess A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates A Basic Level Of Education And Competency In Communication And Organizational Skills.
Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Experience Working In A Healthcare Environment, Preferably In A Medical-Surgical Or Post-Surgical Unit, Is Highly Desirable For This Position.
