  1. Accurately code surgical procedures according to industry standards and guidelines.
  2. Review and analyze surgical documentation to ensure proper coding and documentation.
  3. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify coding and documentation discrepancies.
  4. Stay updated on current coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance.
  5. Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all coding processes.
  6. Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and insurance companies regarding coding and reimbursement issues.
  7. Identify and report any potential coding or billing fraud.
  8. Work efficiently and effectively to meet productivity and quality targets.
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  10. Participate in coding audits and provide feedback to improve coding processes.
  11. Assist with training and mentoring new coding team members.
  12. Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth.
  13. Prioritize patient care and ensure accurate and timely reimbursement for services.
  14. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Anatomy: A Surgical Coder-Physician At Piedmont Healthcare Must Possess A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Human Anatomy In Order To Accurately Code Procedures And Diagnoses.

  • Certification And Experience: Candidates For This Position Should Hold A Certified Professional Coder (Cpc) Or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician (Ccs-P) Certification. Previous Experience In Surgical Coding Is Also Highly Desirable.

  • Attention To Detail: Surgical Coding Is A Highly Detailed And Precise Job, Requiring The Coder To Accurately Document And Code Each Step Of A Surgical Procedure. A Successful Candidate Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail And The Ability To Identify And Correct Errors.

  • Knowledge Of Coding Guidelines And Regulations: The Job Of A Surgical Coder-Physician At Piedmont Healthcare Involves Understanding And Adhering To Various Coding Guidelines And Regulations Set By Organizations Such As The American Medical Association (Ama) And The Centers For Medicare And Medicaid Services (Cms).

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: In Addition To Coding, A Surgical Coder-Physician Must Also Be Able To Analyze Medical Records And Identify Any Discrepancies Or Missing Information. They Should Also Be Able To Problem-Solve And Find Solutions To Coding Challenges That May Arise.
