
Sterile Processing Technician

- Perform sterilization and decontamination processes on all medical equipment and instruments in accordance with established guidelines and protocols.
- Inspect, clean, assemble, and package medical equipment and instruments for use in various medical procedures.
- Ensure all equipment and instruments are properly labeled and stored in designated areas.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of sterile equipment and instruments.
- Troubleshoot and report any issues or malfunctions with equipment to the appropriate personnel.
- Keep accurate records of all sterilization processes and maintain documentation for regulatory compliance.
- Continuously stay updated on industry standards and best practices for sterile processing techniques and equipment.
- Assist in training new team members and provide guidance and support to colleagues as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment in the sterile processing area.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations.
- Attend regular meetings and trainings to stay informed on new developments and procedures in sterile processing.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education: A Sterile Processing Technician At Piedmont Healthcare Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Various Subjects And Is Able To Follow Instructions Accurately.
Sterile Processing Certification: Candidates Must Have A Sterile Processing Certification From An Accredited Organization Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform The Job Effectively.
Previous Experience: At Least 2 Years Of Previous Experience In Sterile Processing Is Required For This Position At Piedmont Healthcare. This Ensures That The Candidate Is Familiar With The Equipment, Procedures, And Protocols Used In This Role.
Knowledge Of Infection Control: A Sterile Processing Technician Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Infection Control Procedures To Ensure The Safety Of Patients And Staff. Candidates Should Have Knowledge Of Proper Cleaning And Sterilization Techniques, As Well As The Ability To Identify Potential Risks For Infection.
