1. Provide compassionate and skilled nursing care to patients in the Preoperative unit.
2. Assess and monitor patients' preoperative status, including vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
3. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for each patient.
4. Administer preoperative medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
5. Educate patients and their families about preoperative procedures, medications, and post-operative care.
6. Ensure patient safety and comfort by maintaining a clean and organized environment in the Preoperative unit.
7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide timely and accurate updates on patients' conditions.
8. Monitor patients' response to preoperative interventions and report any changes or concerns to the attending physician.
9. Document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately and thoroughly.
10. Serve as a patient advocate and ensure that patients' rights and preferences are respected.
11. Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
12. Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain knowledge and skills related to preoperative care.
13. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to identify and implement quality improvement initiatives.
14. Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold ethical standards at all times.
15. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during the preoperative process.
16. Maintain confidentiality and protect patients' privacy in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
17. Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate interventions as needed.
18. Act as a mentor and resource for other nursing staff in the Preoperative unit.
19. Attend staff meetings and participate in departmental projects and committees.
20. Continuously evaluate and improve nursing practices to ensure the highest quality of patient care.
