Job Description

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Transitional Nursery Nurse. Our Transitional Nursery provides specialized care for newborns who require additional monitoring and support before transitioning to the mother's care. As a Transitional Nursery Nurse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our youngest patients. This position requires a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for caring for newborns and their families.   1. Provide specialized nursing care to newborns in the transitional nursery, including monitoring vital signs, administering medication, and providing support for any necessary treatments.
  2. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans for each newborn, taking into consideration their specific needs and medical history.
  3. Communicate effectively with parents and families, providing education and support on caring for their newborn while in the transitional nursery and preparing them for the transition to home care.
  4. Assess and document newborns' progress and response to treatments, and report any changes or concerns to the attending physician.
  5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, following all regulatory and organizational guidelines.
  6. Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of both patients and staff.
  7. Act as a resource and mentor for other nursing staff, providing guidance and support in the care of newborns.
  8. Remain current on best practices and advancements in the field of neonatal nursing, and participate in ongoing education and training opportunities.
  9. Advocate for the needs and rights of newborns and their families, working to ensure they receive the highest quality of care and support.
  10. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and compassion in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues, promoting a positive and caring work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Possess A Valid And Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License In The State Of Georgia.

  • Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience Working In A Transitional Nursery Or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nicu) Setting.

  • Bls And Nrp Certifications.

  • Strong Knowledge And Understanding Of Neonatal Care, Including Feeding And Respiratory Support For Premature And/Or Medically Fragile Infants.

  • Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Multidisciplinary Team To Provide High-Quality Care To Patients And Their Families.
