- Provide compassionate and dedicated nursing care to patients undergoing radiation treatment.
- Administer radiation therapy under the supervision of a radiation oncologist.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and reactions to treatment, and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical staff.
- Educate patients and their families on the radiation treatment process, including potential side effects and how to manage them.
- Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including radiation therapists and oncologists, to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, including treatment plans, progress notes, and medication administration.
- Ensure patient safety and comfort during radiation treatments, including proper positioning and monitoring for potential complications.
- Administer medications and perform treatments as prescribed by the radiation oncologist.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families during the difficult process of cancer treatment.
- Continuously assess and evaluate patients' progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements and best practices in radiation oncology nursing.
- Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards and guidelines.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist in maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients and their families, ensuring their needs are met and concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Or Related Field: A Minimum Of A Bachelor's Degree In Nursing Is Required For This Position To Ensure A Strong Foundation In Nursing Principles And Practices.
Current Rn License: Candidates Must Have A Current License As A Registered Nurse In The State Of Georgia Or Be Eligible To Obtain One.
Radiation Oncology Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Radiation Oncology Setting Is Preferred To Ensure A Solid Understanding Of Oncology Treatments And Procedures.
Bls And Acls Certification: Candidates Must Possess Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications To Provide Emergency Care In The Radiation Oncology Setting.
Excellent Communication And Critical Thinking Skills: As A Registered Nurse In The Radiation Oncology Department, Candidates Must Possess Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Physicians, Patients, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team. Critical Thinking Skills Are Also Essential To Assess And Manage Complex Patient Situations.
