As an RN in this department, you will play a vital role in providing safe and effective care to expectant mothers and their newborns.   1. Provide safe and effective care to expectant mothers and their newborns in the Labor and Delivery unit.
  2. Assess, monitor and document the health status of patients and newborns throughout the labor and delivery process.
  3. Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians.
  4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  5. Educate patients and their families about the labor and delivery process, postpartum care and newborn care.
  6. Monitor and assist with the progress of labor, including fetal heart monitoring and contraction patterns.
  7. Anticipate and respond to potential complications in the labor and delivery process.
  8. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and newborns.
  9. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during labor and delivery.
  10. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
  11. Utilize critical thinking skills to make decisions and prioritize care for patients.
  12. Document all care provided accurately and timely in electronic health records.
  13. Continuously participate in educational opportunities and stay current on best practices in labor and delivery care.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interactions with patients and their families.
  15. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the Labor and Delivery unit.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Nursing (Bsn) From An Accredited Institution: A Bsn Degree Is Often Required For A Registered Nurse Position At Piedmont Healthcare. This Degree Provides A Strong Foundation In Nursing Theory And Clinical Practice, Preparing Nurses For A Wide Range Of Patient Care Responsibilities.

  • Current Rn License In The State Of Georgia: All Candidates For The Registered Nurse, Labor And Delivery Position At Piedmont Healthcare Must Have A Valid License To Practice As An Rn In The State Of Georgia. This Ensures That Nurses Are Familiar With State-Specific Laws And Regulations Related To Patient Care.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Labor And Delivery: Piedmont Healthcare Seeks Candidates With At Least 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Labor And Delivery Unit. This Experience Ensures That Nurses Are Knowledgeable In Providing Care During Childbirth And Are Familiar With Common Complications That May Arise.

  • Current Bls And Acls Certifications: Bls (Basic Life Support) And Acls (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certifications Are Required For All Registered Nurses At Piedmont Healthcare. These Certifications Demonstrate A Nurse's Ability To Respond To Emergency Situations And Provide Life-Saving Interventions.

  • Excellent Communication And Teamwork Skills: Working In Labor And Delivery Requires Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills. Registered Nurses At Piedmont Healthcare Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Ensure The Best Possible Care For Expectant Mothers And Their Newborns.
