
Phlebotomist

- Collect blood samples from patients using proper phlebotomy techniques.
- Conduct other laboratory tests as needed, such as urine or stool samples.
- Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of all samples collected.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to comply with safety and infection control protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providing clear instructions and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
- Utilize electronic medical records systems to document patient information and test results.
- Adhere to all regulatory and compliance standards, including HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies, ordering new supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and lab technicians, to ensure timely and accurate collection and testing of samples.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service and uphold Piedmont Healthcare's values and standards.
- Troubleshoot any equipment malfunctions and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients who may be anxious or uncomfortable during the blood collection process.
- Perform any other duties or tasks assigned by supervisors or managers.
Certification In Phlebotomy: Candidates Must Have A Valid Certification In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Preferred.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Required To Accurately Label And Handle Blood Samples.
Attention To Detail: Phlebotomists Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail To Ensure Accurate Labeling And Tracking Of Samples.
Interpersonal And Communication Skills: Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Necessary To Interact With Patients And Healthcare Professionals In A Professional And Compassionate Manner.
