  1. Safely and efficiently transport patients to and from various areas within the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, diagnostic and treatment areas, and operating rooms.
  2. Provide assistance to patients who require mobility aids or are unable to move independently.
  3. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient transport equipment and work areas.
  4. Interact with patients in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring a positive patient experience.
  5. Communicate effectively with nursing staff and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient transport schedule and ensure timely transport services.
  6. Adhere to all infection control protocols and safety measures to prevent the spread of illness or infection.
  7. Respond promptly to urgent patient transport requests and prioritize tasks based on patient needs.
  8. Be knowledgeable about the layout and services of the healthcare facility to assist patients with wayfinding and provide directions as needed.
  9. Demonstrate sensitivity and empathy towards patients, especially those who may be experiencing physical or emotional distress.
  10. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and trainings to stay updated on best practices and procedures.
  11. Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities, including time logs and patient identifiers.
  12. Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and regulations, including HIPAA guidelines, while performing job duties.
  13. Collaborate with other departments and team members to improve patient experience and workflow processes.
  14. Continuously seek opportunities for professional growth and development to enhance job performance.
  15. Comply with all safety and emergency protocols, including responding to emergency situations and reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Transporter At Piedmont Healthcare Should Have A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Education To Demonstrate Basic Knowledge And Skills.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: It Is Important For A Patient Transporter To Have A Working Knowledge Of Medical Terminology To Effectively Communicate With Healthcare Professionals.

  • Cpr Certification: Due To The Nature Of The Job, Piedmont Healthcare Requires Patient Transporters To Be Certified In Cpr To Respond To Emergency Situations.

  • Physical Strength And Stamina: Patient Transporters May Be Required To Move And Lift Patients, Equipment, And Supplies, So Physical Strength And Stamina Are Essential Qualifications For This Job.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Transporter, As It Provides Familiarity With Hospital Procedures And Protocols.
