  1. Safely transport patients to and from various locations within the healthcare facility, including but not limited to: patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and treatment areas.
  2. Ensure the comfort and safety of patients during transportation, taking into consideration their physical limitations and medical equipment needs.
  3. Maintain accurate documentation of patient transports, including destination, time, and mode of transportation.
  4. Follow established protocols and procedures for infection control and patient confidentiality.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure timely and efficient transportation of patients.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and staff to address any concerns or special needs.
  7. Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the appropriate department.
  8. Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including proper body mechanics and safe handling of medical equipment.
  9. Participate in ongoing training and education to maintain and improve skills and knowledge related to patient transportation.
  10. Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients, recognizing the importance of maintaining their dignity and privacy.
  11. Maintain a professional and positive attitude, promoting a welcoming and caring environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Patient Transporter Job At Piedmont Healthcare Is A High School Diploma Or Ged. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Literacy And Numeracy Skills Necessary For The Job.

  • Cpr Certification: As A Patient Transporter, One May Be Required To Assist In Emergency Situations. Therefore, Having A Current And Valid Cpr Certification Is Essential To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients While Being Transported.

  • Physical Fitness: Patient Transporters Are Required To Move And Lift Patients Of Various Sizes And Conditions. Therefore, It Is Important To Have Good Physical Fitness And The Ability To Lift Up To 50 Pounds Without Assistance.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Patient Transporters Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Patients, Their Families, And Healthcare Staff. Clear And Concise Communication Is Crucial For Ensuring A Smooth And Safe Transport Process.

  • Previous Healthcare Experience: While Not Always Required, Previous Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting Can Be Beneficial For A Patient Transporter Job. This May Include Experience As A Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Or In A Similar Role That Involves Direct Patient Care.
