  1. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms of patients in the Cardiac Telemetry department.
  2. Notify medical staff of any changes in patient cardiac rhythms.
  3. Document all cardiac rhythm findings accurately and thoroughly.
  4. Maintain and troubleshoot monitoring equipment.
  5. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure prompt and appropriate response to any cardiac events.
  6. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  7. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and medical staff.
  8. Monitor and report any equipment malfunctions or issues to appropriate personnel.
  9. Follow all hospital policies and procedures for patient care and safety.
  10. Attend required training and maintain current knowledge of advancements in cardiac technology.
  11. Assist with patient education regarding cardiac monitoring and procedures.
  12. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information in electronic medical records.
  13. Adhere to infection control guidelines and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  14. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the Cardiac Telemetry department.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification In Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation: A Monitor Technician At Piedmont Healthcare Must Possess A Current Certification In Cardiac Rhythm Interpretation, Such As Certified Cardiographic Technician (Cct) Or Certified Cardiographic Technician - Advanced (Cct-A).

  • Knowledge Of Cardiac Telemetry Equipment And Technology: Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Cardiac Telemetry Equipment, Including Ekg Machines, Telemetry Transmitters, And Central Monitoring Systems. They Should Also Be Familiar With Related Technology Such As Remote Monitoring Systems And Electronic Health Records.

  • Ability To Identify And Respond To Abnormal Rhythms: The Role Of A Monitor Technician Is To Continuously Monitor Cardiac Rhythms And Identify Any Abnormalities Or Changes. Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Cardiac Arrhythmias And The Ability To Quickly Respond To Critical Situations.

  • Excellent Communication And Documentation Skills: As A Monitor Technician, It Is Essential To Clearly And Accurately Communicate Any Changes In A Patient's Cardiac Rhythm To The Nursing Staff And Physicians. Strong Documentation Skills Are Also Necessary For Maintaining Accurate Records.

  • Teamwork And Critical Thinking: Working In A Fast-Paced Hospital Environment, Monitor Technicians Must Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Other Healthcare Professionals And Think Critically To Prioritize Tasks And Make Quick Decisions When Necessary. The Ability To Remain Calm Under Pressure Is Also Crucial For This Role.
