Job Description

Piedmont Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Medical Technologist- Micro to join our dynamic team. As a Medical Technologist- Micro, you will play a crucial role in providing accurate and timely laboratory results for patient care. Your expertise in microbiology will be essential in identifying and treating various infections and diseases.   1. Perform microbiology laboratory testing: Conduct a variety of microbiology tests including microbial identification, antibiotic susceptibility testing, and culture analysis.
  2. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of results: Follow established protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and timely delivery of laboratory results to support patient care.
  3. Identify and treat infections and diseases: Utilize your knowledge and expertise in microbiology to identify and treat various infections and diseases in patients.
  4. Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies: Regularly perform maintenance and quality control checks on laboratory equipment and maintain an adequate supply of necessary materials for testing.
  5. Collaborate with healthcare team: Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare team members to provide necessary information and consult on patient cases.
  6. Adhere to safety and quality standards: Follow all safety and quality protocols to maintain a safe and efficient laboratory environment.
  7. Troubleshoot and problem-solve: Utilize critical thinking skills to troubleshoot technical issues and resolve problems that may arise during testing.
  8. Document and report results: Accurately record and report laboratory results in a timely manner to ensure proper patient care.
  9. Train and mentor other staff: Act as a resource and mentor for other laboratory staff, providing training and guidance as needed.
  10. Stay current with industry developments: Continuously expand knowledge and stay up-to-date with advancements in microbiology and laboratory testing techniques.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology Or Related Field: A Medical Technologist-Micro At Piedmont Healthcare Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Or A Related Field. This Helps Ensure The Individual Has A Strong Foundation In The Scientific Principles And Techniques Used In The Laboratory.

  • Certification As A Medical Technologist: Candidates Should Have Certification As A Medical Technologist From A Recognized Accrediting Agency, Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Credentialing Agency For Laboratory Personnel (Nca). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competence And Proficiency In The Field Of Laboratory Science.

  • Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory: Candidates For This Position Should Have Previous Experience Working In A Clinical Laboratory, Preferably In The Area Of Microbiology. This Experience Will Help Them Perform Tasks Such As Identifying And Isolating Microorganisms, Performing Tests, And Interpreting Results Accurately And Efficiently.

  • Knowledge Of Laboratory Equipment And Procedures: A Medical Technologist-Micro Must Have A Strong Understanding Of Laboratory Equipment, Procedures, And Techniques Used In Microbiology. This Includes Knowledge Of Aseptic Techniques, Culture Media, And Quality Control Methods. They Should Also Be Familiar With Laboratory Safety Protocols.

  • Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Analyze And Interpret Complex Data, Troubleshoot Issues, And Make Accurate And Timely Decisions. A Successful Candidate Should Possess Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills To Effectively Perform Their Duties In The Laboratory. They Should Also Have Attention To Detail And The Ability To Work Under Pressure.
