- Perform a variety of complex tests and analyses on patient samples using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Adhere to strict laboratory procedures and protocols to ensure accuracy and quality of test results.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot issues, and report any malfunctions.
- Record and analyze test data, prepare reports, and communicate results to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and new technologies in the field of Microbiology to continuously improve laboratory processes and procedures.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to discuss test results and contribute to patient diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Monitor inventory levels and order necessary supplies to ensure uninterrupted laboratory operations.
- Train and mentor new laboratory staff and students, as needed.
- Adhere to all ethical and legal standards, including patient confidentiality and data privacy, in all aspects of the job.
Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or Related Field: A Medical Technologist-Micro At Piedmont Healthcare Must Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Medical Laboratory Science Or A Related Field From An Accredited Institution. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Perform Laboratory Tests Accurately And Efficiently.
Certification As A Medical Technologist: Candidates For This Role Must Hold Certification As A Medical Technologist From A Recognized Agency Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Credentialing Agency (Nca). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Competency In The Field Of Medical Technology.
Strong Knowledge Of Microbiology: As A Medical Technologist-Micro, One Must Have A Comprehensive Understanding Of Microbiology. This Includes Knowledge Of Microorganisms, Their Characteristics, And How They Can Cause Disease. This Knowledge Is Essential For Accurately Identifying And Interpreting Test Results.
Experience With Laboratory Equipment And Procedures: A Successful Candidate For This Role Must Be Familiar With Various Laboratory Equipment And Procedures Used In Microbiology Testing. This Includes The Ability To Operate And Troubleshoot Equipment, As Well As Following Established Protocols And Safety Measures.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: In The Field Of Medical Technology, Accuracy Is Critical.
