
Lead Ultrasound Technician

- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the ultrasound department, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, and quality control.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate ultrasound technicians to ensure compliance with department protocols and standards.
- Perform and assist with complex ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to abdominal, obstetric, and vascular exams.
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement new protocols and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and thorough records of patient exams, including patient information, images, and diagnostic reports.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ultrasound supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols.
- Stay up-to-date with advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques, and provide ongoing education and training to the ultrasound team.
- Serve as a liaison between the ultrasound department and other departments within the healthcare facility.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Contribute to the overall success and growth of the ultrasound department by identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Uphold the values and mission of Piedmont Healthcare by providing exceptional patient care and promoting a positive work culture.
Certification: A Lead Ultrasound Technician At Piedmont Healthcare Must Hold A Valid Certification From The American Registry For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ardms) Or The American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (Arrt).
Experience: Candidates Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience As An Ultrasound Technician, With At Least 2 Years In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role.
Leadership Skills: The Lead Ultrasound Technician Must Possess Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Train And Mentor Staff, Manage Schedules, And Coordinate Workflow.
Technical Knowledge: Extensive Knowledge Of Ultrasound Equipment And Procedures Is Essential For This Role. Candidates Must Also Have A Thorough Understanding Of Anatomy, Physiology, And Pathology Related To Ultrasound Imaging.
Communication Skills: As A Leader, The Lead Ultrasound Technician Must Have Excellent Communication Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Physicians, Healthcare Professionals, And Patients. This Includes The Ability To Explain Procedures, Interpret Results, And Provide Guidance And Feedback To Team Members.
