
Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

- Perform phlebotomy procedures and collect blood and other specimens from patients according to established guidelines and protocols.
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols during specimen collection and handling.
- Label and process specimens accurately and in a timely manner.
- Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and notify supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
- Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials and biohazardous waste.
- Handle patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to ensure accurate and timely delivery of test results.
- Maintain and update patient records and test results in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Follow established procedures for specimen transport and delivery to the appropriate laboratory.
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current on phlebotomy techniques and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of Piedmont Healthcare.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times, representing the values of Piedmont Healthcare.
- Continuously strive to improve patient satisfaction and experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

- Display a strong understanding of laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients during phlebotomy procedures and interactions.
Certified Phlebotomist: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomist From A Recognized Institution.
Experience With Laboratory Procedures: Previous Experience Working In A Laboratory Or Healthcare Setting, With Knowledge Of Laboratory Procedures And Protocols, Is Preferred.
Strong Attention To Detail: This Role Requires Precision And Accuracy In Collecting And Handling Specimens, Labeling Samples, And Documenting Patient Information. A Keen Eye For Detail Is Essential.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology And An Ability To Interpret Lab Orders Is Necessary For This Role.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist, Candidates Must Be Able To Communicate Effectively With Patients, Colleagues, And Healthcare Professionals. Strong Interpersonal Skills Are Essential For Building Rapport And Providing Quality Patient Care.
