
Histology Technician

- Perform accurate and timely preparation of tissue samples for diagnosis by following established protocols and procedures.
- Utilize technical knowledge and skills to accurately operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis of patient samples.
- Maintain strict adherence to quality control and assurance standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens to prevent cross-contamination and maintain sample integrity.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all procedures, results, and patient information.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
- Stay current on industry trends and advancements in histology techniques and procedures to maintain a high level of proficiency.
- Assist in the training and supervision of new histology technicians and laboratory personnel.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the histology department.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and fulfill continuing education requirements.
- Adhere to all Piedmont Healthcare policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager or supervisor.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Safety Protocols And Procedures.
Bachelor's Degree In Histotechnology Or A Related Field.
Certification As A Histotechnician (Ht) Or Histotechnologist (Htl) From Ascp.
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Histology Laboratory.
Ability To Operate And Maintain Laboratory Equipment, Including Microscopes And Tissue Processors.
