1. Perform accurate and timely preparation of tissue samples for diagnosis by following established protocols and procedures.
2. Utilize technical knowledge and skills to accurately operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
3. Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely diagnosis of patient samples.
4. Maintain strict adherence to quality control and assurance standards to ensure accurate and reliable results.
5. Ensure proper labeling, handling, and storage of specimens to prevent cross-contamination and maintain sample integrity.
6. Communicate effectively with team members and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results.
7. Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all procedures, results, and patient information.
8. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
9. Stay current on industry trends and advancements in histology techniques and procedures to maintain a high level of proficiency.
10. Assist in the training and supervision of new histology technicians and laboratory personnel.
11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the overall success of the histology department.
12. Maintain confidentiality of patient information and follow all HIPAA regulations.
13. Maintain certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and fulfill continuing education requirements.
14. Adhere to all Piedmont Healthcare policies and procedures.
15. Perform other duties as assigned by the laboratory manager or supervisor.
