  1. Perform all tasks related to sterile processing, including decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, and sterilization of all surgical instruments and medical equipment.
  2. Follow established infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  3. Inspect and test equipment for proper functioning and report any malfunctions or defects.
  4. Maintain accurate records of all processed and sterilized items.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of sterile supplies for patient care.
  6. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for sterile processing.
  7. Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent injury or contamination.
  8. Communicate effectively with team members and superiors to ensure smooth and efficient workflow.
  9. Monitor inventory levels and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need to be replenished.
  10. Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  11. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality.
  12. Maintain a professional and courteous attitude towards patients, families, and colleagues at all times.
  13. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Central Sterile Technician At Piedmont Healthcare Must Have At Least A High School Diploma Or Equivalent To Demonstrate Basic Educational Qualifications And Understanding Of Medical Terminology.

  • Certification In Sterile Processing: Candidates Must Have A Certification From A Nationally Recognized Organization Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm).

  • Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Equipment: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Various Sterilization Methods, Such As Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Gas Plasma, As Well As Knowledge Of Different Types Of Sterilization Equipment.

  • Attention To Detail: Central Sterile Technicians Are Responsible For Sterilizing And Preparing Medical Instruments And Equipment, Which Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure Proper Sterilization And Prevent Infections.

  • Communication And Teamwork Skills: Central Sterile Technicians Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Technicians. Good Communication And Teamwork Skills Are Essential For A Successful And Efficient Workflow In The Sterile Processing Department.
