
Central Sterile Instrument Specialist

- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to established protocols and procedures.
- Inspect, assemble, and package medical instruments and equipment for sterilization.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilized equipment and ensure proper labeling and tracking.
- Adhere to infection control and safety procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
- Collaborate with surgical and clinical staff to ensure timely availability of sterilized equipment for procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
- Follow proper handling and disposal protocols for biohazardous materials.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay updated on industry advancements and best practices.

Certification: A Valid Certification From The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm) Or The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Is Required For This Position. This Ensures That The Candidate Has The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Handle And Process Sterile Instruments.
Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience Working In A Sterile Processing Or Central Sterile Department Is Preferred For This Role. This Experience Helps The Candidate To Have A Better Understanding Of The Processes And Procedures Involved In Sterile Instrument Processing.
Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Different Sterilization Techniques, Such As Steam Sterilization, Ethylene Oxide Sterilization, And Low-Temperature Sterilization. They Should Also Have Knowledge Of Sterilization Equipment And Be Able To Troubleshoot Any Issues That May Arise.
Attention To Detail: Working With Sterile Instruments Requires A High Level Of Attention To Detail To Ensure That All Instruments Are Properly Cleaned, Disinfected, And Sterilized. The Candidate Should Be Able To Follow Strict Protocols And Guidelines To Maintain A Sterile Environment.
Communication Skills: The Central Sterile Instrument Specialist Will Work Closely With Other Healthcare Professionals, Including Surgeons, Nurses, And Other Support Staff. Strong Communication Skills Are Essential To Effectively Communicate And Collaborate With The Team And Ensure That All Instruments Are Readily Available For Patient Care.
