
Cardiovascular Perfusionist

- Operate the heart-lung machine during cardiac surgeries, closely monitoring and regulating blood flow, oxygen levels, and other vital signs
- Prepare and maintain the equipment and supplies needed for perfusion, including the heart-lung machine, oxygenators, filters, and tubing
- Collaborate with cardiac surgeons and other healthcare team members to develop and implement perfusion strategies for each patient
- Monitor and record patient data, including blood pressure, temperature, and blood gas levels, and make adjustments to perfusion as needed
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families before and after surgery, providing education and support as needed
- Stay up-to-date on the latest perfusion techniques and technologies, and actively participate in continuing education opportunities
- Adhere to all safety and infection control protocols, maintaining a clean and sterile environment in the operating room
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all perfusion procedures, including patient records and equipment maintenance logs
- Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the cardiac surgery program
- Uphold the values and mission of Piedmont Healthcare, promoting a culture of patient-centered care and continuous improvement.
Bachelor's Degree In Cardiovascular Perfusion From An Accredited Program.
Certification By The American Board Of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Abcp).
Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience As A Cardiovascular Perfusionist In A Hospital Setting.
Knowledge Of Current Perfusion Technology And Techniques.
Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced And High-Stress Environment, With Excellent Critical Thinking And Problem-Solving Skills.
