  1. Conduct personalized dog training sessions for a variety of breeds and ages, including basic obedience, advanced training, and behavior modification.
  2. Create and implement training plans tailored to each individual dog and their owner's goals and needs.
  3. Provide guidance and support to pet parents, including recommendations for continued training and behavior management.
  4. Maintain a clean and safe training environment for both dogs and their owners.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest dog training techniques and methods, and incorporate them into training sessions as needed.
  6. Demonstrate a deep understanding and knowledge of dog behavior and body language.
  7. Handle and train dogs of all sizes and temperaments in a professional and safe manner.
  8. Collaborate with other store associates to ensure a positive customer experience and promote additional services.
  9. Build and maintain relationships with clients and their dogs to ensure continued success and satisfaction.
  10. Act as an ambassador for Petco, promoting our mission and values to customers and the community.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience: A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Professional Experience In Dog Training Is Required For This Position, With A Preference For Trainers Who Have Worked With A Variety Of Breeds And Ages.

  • Certification: All Applicants Must Hold A Certification From A Recognized Dog Training Program, Such As The Certification Council For Professional Dog Trainers (Ccpdt) Or The Karen Pryor Academy.

  • Knowledge Of Positive Reinforcement Techniques: Petco Is Committed To Positive Reinforcement Training Methods, So Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of These Techniques And Be Able To Demonstrate Their Skills In This Area.

  • Customer Service Skills: As A Dog Trainer At Petco, You Will Be Working Closely With Pet Parents And Their Dogs On A Daily Basis. Strong Customer Service Skills, Including Effective Communication And Problem-Solving Abilities, Are Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Passion For Animals: Above All, We Are Looking For Candidates Who Have A Genuine Love And Passion For Animals. Our Dog Trainers Are Not Only Responsible For Teaching Basic Obedience And Behavior Modification, But Also For Creating A Positive And Enjoyable Experience For Both The Pet And The Pet Parent.
