- Provide exceptional care for all aquatic animals in our store, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their health.
- Educate customers on the proper care and maintenance of aquatic animals, including tank setup, water quality, and appropriate food and supplies.
- Assist customers in selecting the right aquatic animals for their home and lifestyle.
- Maintain a clean and organized aquatic department, including proper labeling and stocking of products, and regular cleaning of tanks and equipment.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and new products related to aquatic animals.
- Monitor and report any changes in the health or behavior of aquatic animals to the store manager.
- Collaborate with team members to create innovative displays and promotions to attract and educate customers.
- Perform routine maintenance and water testing to ensure the proper environment for aquatic animals.
- Assist with ordering and stocking of aquatic animals and products.
- Adhere to all safety and company policies and procedures related to the handling and care of aquatic animals.
- Provide exceptional customer service and address any customer concerns or questions related to aquatic animals.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and growth within the aquatics field.
- Work with other team members to ensure a positive and welcoming environment for both customers and animals.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, sales, and customer interactions.
- Collaborate with other departments to cross-sell and promote other products and services offered by Petco.
Extensive Knowledge Of Aquatic Animals: An Aquatics Specialist At Petco Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Different Types Of Fish, Reptiles, And Other Aquatic Animals. This Includes Knowledge Of Their Behaviors, Habitat Requirements, And Compatibility With Other Species.
Experience In Aquarium Maintenance: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have Experience With Maintaining Aquariums, Including Cleaning, Water Testing, And Equipment Maintenance. This Will Ensure The Well-Being Of The Aquatic Animals In Petco's Care.
Customer Service Skills: As An Aquatics Specialist, You Will Be Interacting With Customers On A Daily Basis. Excellent Customer Service Skills Are Essential In This Role To Provide Helpful And Accurate Information, Make Product Recommendations, And Address Any Concerns Or Issues.
Physical Stamina And Strength: This Job May Require Lifting And Carrying Heavy Bags Of Fish Food, Aquarium Supplies, And Even Aquatic Animals. The Ability To Stand For Long Periods Of Time And Perform Physical Tasks Is Important For An Aquatics Specialist.
