Welcome to the University Field Supervisor Pool for the Graduate School of Education and Psychology M.A. in Teaching at Pepperdine University. We are seeking dynamic and experienced individuals to join our team as field supervisors for our teacher candidates. As a field supervisor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future educators of tomorrow. Your expertise and guidance will help our students gain practical experience and develop the skills necessary to become successful teachers.   1. Provide mentorship and support to teacher candidates through regular field observations and feedback.
  2. Evaluate teacher candidates' performance based on established criteria and provide meaningful evaluations.
  3. Communicate regularly and effectively with teacher candidates, cooperating teachers, and university faculty.
  4. Collaborate with university faculty to develop and implement effective teaching strategies and practices.
  5. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for teacher candidates.
  6. Stay current on educational best practices and trends in the field of teaching.
  7. Provide guidance and support to teacher candidates in developing lesson plans and implementing instructional strategies.
  8. Serve as a resource for teacher candidates, offering support and guidance in navigating challenges and obstacles in the classroom.
  9. Monitor and ensure the completion of required fieldwork hours and assignments.
  10. Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities provided by the university.
  11. Maintain accurate records of teacher candidates' progress and performance.
  12. Uphold the university's standards and expectations for teacher candidates.
  13. Serve as a liaison between the university, teacher candidates, and cooperating teachers.
  14. Represent the university and graduate school in a professional and positive manner.
  15. Act as an advocate for the teacher candidates and support their growth and development as future educators.

Job Qualifications

  • Master's Degree In Education Or Related Field: The University Field Supervisor Pool Requires Candidates To Hold A Master's Degree In Education Or A Related Field, Demonstrating A Strong Academic Foundation In Teaching And Learning.

  • Teaching Experience: Candidates Must Have A Minimum Of 3 Years Of Teaching Experience At The K-12 Level. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Solid Understanding Of Classroom Dynamics And Can Effectively Guide And Support Student Teachers.

  • Knowledge Of Current Educational Practices: A Deep Understanding Of Current Educational Practices, Theories, And Research Is Essential For A University Field Supervisor. This Includes Knowledge Of Curriculum Development, Instructional Strategies, And Assessment Techniques.

  • Communication And Interpersonal Skills: University Field Supervisors Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Student Teachers, School Administrators, And University Faculty. This Includes The Ability To Provide Constructive Feedback And Support To Student Teachers.

  • Strong Organizational Skills: The University Field Supervisor Pool Requires Candidates To Be Well-Organized And Detail-Oriented In Order To Effectively Manage Multiple Student Teachers And Their Placements. This Includes Maintaining Accurate Records, Scheduling Visits, And Coordinating With Schools And University Staff.
