- Manage and maintain electronic resources, including databases, e-books, and online journals, to ensure seamless access for students, faculty, and staff.
- Collaborate with other librarians and staff to develop and implement strategies for maximizing the use of electronic resources in teaching, learning, and research.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in electronic resources management, and make recommendations for improvement or new acquisitions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to electronic resources, working closely with library IT staff and vendors as needed.
- Train library staff and users on how to effectively access and utilize electronic resources.
- Develop and maintain policies and procedures for electronic resource management, including usage statistics and cost analysis.
- Assist users with research inquiries and provide reference services using electronic resources.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate electronic resources into the curriculum and research projects.
- Serve as a liaison to academic departments and keep them informed of new electronic resources available.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the library's website, ensuring easy access to electronic resources and accurate information.
- Stay informed about copyright laws and licensing agreements related to electronic resources.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with emerging technologies and trends in electronic resources management.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the library and university.
Bachelor's Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field: A Strong Foundation In Library Science Or A Related Field Is Essential For A Librarian For Electronic Resources At Pepperdine University. This Degree Provides The Necessary Knowledge And Skills For Effectively Managing Electronic Resources And Staying Up-To-Date With The Latest Trends And Technologies In The Field.
Experience With Electronic Resources Management: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience In Managing Electronic Resources In An Academic Library Setting. This Includes Familiarity With Electronic Databases, E-Journals, E-Books, And Other Digital Resources, As Well As Experience With Troubleshooting And Resolving Access Issues.
Strong Technical Skills: In Addition To A Background In Library Science, The Candidate Should Possess Strong Technical Skills, Including Experience With Library Systems And Tools Such As Integrated Library Systems (Ils), Discovery Services, And Link Resolvers. Proficiency In Web Design, Html, And Database Management Is Also Desirable.
Knowledge Of Copyright And Licensing Issues: As Electronic Resources Often Come With Complex Licensing Agreements And Copyright Restrictions, The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Good Understanding Of Copyright Laws And Licensing Issues Related To Electronic Resources. This Includes The Ability To Negotiate And Manage License Agreements With Vendors.
Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: The Librarian For Electronic Resources Will Work Closely With Faculty, Students, And Library Staff In Managing And Promoting Electronic Resources. As Such, Strong Communication And Collaboration Skills Are Essential For Effectively Communicating With Stakeholders And Collaborating With Other Library Departments To Provide Seamless Access To Electronic Resources.
