  1. Develop and implement strategies to acquire new titles that align with Penguin Random House's mission and goals.
  2. Build and maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other key stakeholders in the publishing industry.
  3. Lead and mentor a team of acquisition editors to identify and evaluate potential titles for publication.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues in marketing, sales, and editorial departments to ensure successful launch and promotion of new titles.
  5. Conduct market research and stay up-to-date on industry trends to inform acquisition decisions.
  6. Work closely with subsidiary companies to provide support and guidance in their publishing efforts.
  7. Monitor and analyze sales data to identify opportunities for growth and profitability.
  8. Negotiate deals and contracts with authors and agents.
  9. Develop and manage budgets for acquisitions and subsidiary support.
  10. Represent Penguin Random House at industry events and conferences.
  11. Stay informed of industry regulations and best practices related to publishing and copyright.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve acquisition and subsidiary support processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. Act as a liaison between Penguin Random House and subsidiary companies, fostering collaboration and sharing of resources.
  14. Maintain a deep understanding of the company's brand and mission, and ensure that all acquisitions and subsidiary support align with these values.
  15. Stay current on emerging technologies and digital publishing platforms to inform acquisition and subsidiary support strategies.
  16. Communicate regularly with senior management to provide updates on acquisition and subsidiary support efforts and results.
  17. Handle any issues or challenges that may arise in the acquisition or subsidiary support process.
  18. Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion by actively seeking out and supporting diverse voices and perspectives in the acquisition and subsidiary support process.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Mergers And Acquisitions: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In M&A, With A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Executing Complex Deals In The Publishing Industry Or Related Fields.

  • Strong Financial And Analytical Skills: A Vp Of Acquisition And Subsidiary Support Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Financial Analysis, Valuation Methods, And Due Diligence Procedures. They Should Also Possess Excellent Analytical Skills To Evaluate Potential Acquisition Targets And Make Sound Investment Decisions.

  • Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Senior Leader, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Building Relationships With Potential Acquisition Targets And Negotiating Deals. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate And Present Complex Financial Information To Stakeholders At All Levels.

  • Strategic Mindset: The Vp Must Have A Strategic Mindset And Be Able To Think Long-Term About The Company's Growth And Expansion Goals. They Should Be Able To Identify And Evaluate Potential Acquisition Opportunities That Align With The Company's Overall Strategy.

  • Leadership And Team Management Experience: This Role Will Involve Leading And Managing A Team Of Professionals, Including Financial Analysts, Lawyers, And Other Specialists. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Developing High-Performing Teams.
