Job Description

Welcome to Penguin Random House, the world's largest trade book publisher! We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our team as a Book Production Associate. As a Book Production Associate, you will play a key role in the production of our books, ensuring that they are produced accurately, on time, and within budget. We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about books and has a strong understanding of the publishing industry. If you have a keen eye for detail, excellent project management skills, and a love for the written word, we would love to hear from you.   1. Manage the production process of books from start to finish, ensuring that they are produced accurately, on time, and within budget.
  2. Collaborate with authors, editors, designers, and other team members to ensure that the book meets quality standards and reflects the author's vision.
  3. Create and maintain production schedules, track progress, and communicate any delays or issues to the appropriate parties.
  4. Oversee the proofreading and editing of manuscripts to ensure they are error-free and ready for publication.
  5. Coordinate with printers, binders, and other vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  6. Conduct quality control checks on printed materials to ensure they meet the company's standards and specifications.
  7. Review and approve final proofs and layouts before sending them to print.
  8. Maintain accurate records and documentation of production processes, costs, and timelines.
  9. Assist with the management of inventory and storage of books.
  10. Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in book production technology.
  11. Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure that books are produced in a way that aligns with the company's branding and marketing strategies.
  12. Train and supervise production assistants, interns, and other team members as needed.
  13. Handle any production-related issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  14. Contribute ideas and suggestions for improving production processes and procedures.
  15. Uphold the company's values and maintain a positive and collaborative work environment.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In English, Journalism, Or A Related Field.

  • Previous Experience In Book Production Or Publishing, Preferably At A Major Publishing House.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Excellent Organizational Skills.

  • Proficiency In Adobe Creative Suite And Other Relevant Software.

  • Ability To Work Well Under Tight Deadlines And Manage Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
