If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Associate Director/Director of Art at Penguin Random House.In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the visual identity of our books and collaborate with our talented authors and publishing teams to bring their stories to life. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who can provide creative direction, mentorship, and guidance to our team of designers and artists.To be successful in this role, you must have a strong portfolio showcasing your skills in art direction, design, and project management. You should also have a keen understanding of current design trends and the ability to adapt them to fit our brand and market needs. A Bachelor's degree in Art, Design, or a related field is required, along with at least 5 years of experience in art direction or design in the publishing industry.If you are a dynamic and collaborative leader with a passion for art and books, we would love to hear from you.   1. Oversee the visual identity of our books and ensure that they align with our brand and market needs.
  2. Collaborate with authors and publishing teams to bring their stories to life through visual elements.
  3. Provide creative direction, mentorship, and guidance to a team of designers and artists.
  4. Stay up-to-date with current design trends and adapt them to fit our brand and market needs.
  5. Utilize your strong portfolio to showcase your skills in art direction, design, and project management.
  6. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure that they are completed on time and within budget.
  7. Work closely with editors, marketers, and sales teams to understand the vision and goals for each book.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and freelancers to ensure high-quality and timely delivery of design assets.
  9. Collaborate with authors and publishing teams to brainstorm and develop creative concepts for book covers and other visual assets.
  10. Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for book design.
  11. Stay updated on industry trends, competitors, and new technologies to continually improve our design processes and techniques.
  12. Represent the company at conferences and industry events to promote our books and network with potential partners.
  13. Ensure that all designs adhere to copyright and trademark laws.
  14. Maintain a positive and collaborative work environment within the design team.
  15. Contribute to the overall success of the company by actively participating in strategic planning and decision-making processes.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Fine Arts, Art History, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role In The Art Department Of A Publishing House Or Similar Creative Industry.

  • Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Developing A Team Of Artists And Designers.

  • Strong Understanding Of Traditional And Digital Art Techniques, As Well As Current Design Trends And Software.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills, With The Ability To Work Closely With Authors, Editors, And Other Departments To Create Visually Compelling Book Covers And Illustrations.
