  1. Assist in the acquisition and evaluation of potential Spanish-language books for the children's and young adult market.
  2. Collaborate with editors and other team members to develop and execute editorial plans for Spanish-language titles.
  3. Manage the editorial process for assigned titles, including editing manuscripts, coordinating with authors and illustrators, and ensuring timely delivery of final materials.
  4. Conduct market research and stay up-to-date on industry trends to inform editorial decisions.
  5. Participate in brainstorming and planning meetings with the team to develop new ideas and strategies for the Spanish-language market.
  6. Review and provide feedback on book proposals and manuscripts, ensuring they meet the company's quality standards.
  7. Coordinate with other departments, such as design and production, to ensure a smooth and timely publishing process.
  8. Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute promotional plans for Spanish-language titles.
  9. Attend industry events and conferences to network and stay informed about the children's and young adult publishing market.
  10. Maintain relationships with authors, agents, and other industry professionals.
  11. Monitor and manage budgets for assigned titles.
  12. Assist in the management of translation and production processes for Spanish-language titles.
  13. Continuously strive to improve and expand the company's presence in the Spanish-language market.
  14. Stay informed about bilingual and multicultural publishing trends to help identify new opportunities for growth.
  15. Represent the company and its values in a professional and positive manner at all times.

Job Qualifications
  • Fluency In Spanish: As An Assistant Editor For Spanish-Language Children's And Young Adult Books, It Is Essential To Have A Strong Command Of The Spanish Language. This Includes Proficiency In Both Written And Spoken Forms.

  • Knowledge Of Children's And Young Adult Literature: A Strong Understanding Of The Children's And Young Adult Literature Market, Including Current Trends And Popular Titles, Is Important For This Role. This Will Allow The Assistant Editor To Make Informed Decisions About Which Books To Acquire And How To Position Them In The Market.

  • Editing And Proofreading Skills: The Assistant Editor Will Be Responsible For Editing And Proofreading Manuscripts, So Strong Editing Skills Are A Must. This Includes A Keen Eye For Detail And The Ability To Identify And Correct Errors In Grammar, Spelling, And Punctuation.

  • Project Management Experience: The Assistant Editor Will Be Responsible For Managing Multiple Projects At Once, So It Is Important To Have Experience With Project Management. This Includes The Ability To Prioritize Tasks, Meet Deadlines, And Communicate Effectively With Authors, Illustrators, And Other Team Members.

  • Passion For Children's And Young Adult Literature: Working In Children's And Young Adult Literature Requires A Genuine Passion For The Genre. The Assistant Editor Should Have A Love For Reading And A Commitment To Bringing Diverse And Engaging Stories To Young Readers.
