- Develop and maintain high-quality, scalable, and secure backend systems for PayPal's digital payment platform.
- Collaborate with a team of engineers to design and implement new features and enhancements to the existing backend infrastructure.
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues in production systems, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure code quality and maintain best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the backend systems.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams such as product management, design, and operations to ensure seamless integration of backend systems with other components.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in the team, providing technical leadership and promoting a culture of continuous learning.
- Participate in the planning and execution of software development processes and contribute to process improvements.

- Ensure compliance with security and data privacy standards in all backend development activities.
Extensive Experience In Java Development: A Senior Engineer At Paypal Should Have A Strong Background In Java Development And Be Able To Demonstrate Their Proficiency In The Language. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of Core Java Concepts, As Well As Experience With Popular Java Frameworks And Libraries.
Strong Understanding Of Backend Architecture: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Backend Architecture, Including Knowledge Of Distributed Systems, Microservices, And Api Design. They Should Also Have Experience With Databases, Caching, And Other Backend Technologies.
Experience With Agile Methodologies: Paypal Operates In A Fast-Paced, Agile Environment, So A Senior Engineer Should Be Well-Versed In Agile Methodologies And Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Cross-Functional Teams. Experience With Scrum, Kanban, Or Other Agile Frameworks Is A Plus.
Leadership And Mentorship Skills: As A Senior Engineer, This Role Will Require Leadership And Mentorship Skills To Guide And Support Junior Engineers. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Leading And Mentoring A Team, As Well As The Ability To Communicate Technical Concepts To Non-Technical Stakeholders.
Problem-Solving And Critical Thinking Abilities: A Senior Engineer Should Be Able To Think Critically And Creatively To Solve Complex Technical Problems.
