- Develop and maintain the Design System for PayPal's products, ensuring consistency and adherence to established design standards.
- Lead and manage a team of designers to create and update design elements, patterns, and guidelines within the Design System.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective design solutions.
- Conduct research and gather user feedback to continuously improve the Design System and ensure it meets the evolving needs of our customers.
- Advocate for and promote the Design System across the organization, ensuring buy-in and adoption from all teams.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to keep the Design System up-to-date and competitive in the market.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other designers, promoting a culture of growth and innovation within the design team.
- Work closely with product managers and engineers to ensure design feasibility and implementation.
- Ensure the Design System is accessible and inclusive for all users, including those with disabilities.
- Represent PayPal's design team at conferences, industry events, and other public forums to showcase the company's design capabilities and thought leadership.
Extensive Experience In Design System Development: The Principal Designer Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Developing Design Systems For Large Organizations. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of User-Centered Design Principles And The Ability To Create Scalable And Reusable Design Components.
Strong Design And Ux Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Design Background With A Portfolio Showcasing Their Expertise In Creating Intuitive And Visually Appealing User Interfaces. They Should Also Have Experience In Conducting User Research, Creating Wireframes, And Prototyping.
Leadership And Management Skills: As A Principal Designer, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Designers And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams. Therefore, They Should Possess Excellent Leadership And Management Skills, Including The Ability To Mentor And Coach Team Members.
Technical Proficiency: The Principal Designer Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Front-End Development Technologies And Be Able To Work Closely With Developers To Ensure The Implementation Of The Design System Is Successful.
