- Conduct thorough analysis and reverse engineering of complex malware to understand its capabilities, behavior, and potential impact on our clients' systems.
- Identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses in malware code and develop effective countermeasures to mitigate them.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest malware trends and attack techniques to proactively identify potential threats and develop innovative solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including threat intelligence, research and development, and incident response, to share insights and develop comprehensive cybersecurity strategies.
- Develop and maintain tools and processes for malware analysis, detection, and remediation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members to enhance their reverse engineering skills and knowledge.
- Communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in research projects and contribute to the development of new techniques and tools for malware analysis.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors to leverage their expertise and resources in the fight against malware.
- Adhere to industry best practices and company policies to ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive information.
Expertise In Malware Reverse Engineering: A Senior Staff Malware Reverse Engineer At Palo Alto Networks Should Have A Strong Background In Malware Analysis, Including Experience In Disassembling, Debugging, And Analyzing Malicious Code. They Should Also Have A Deep Understanding Of Different Programming Languages And Operating Systems.
Knowledge Of Network Security: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Network Security Principles And Protocols, Including Tcp/Ip, Dns, Ssl, And Http. They Should Also Have Experience With Intrusion Detection And Prevention Systems, Firewalls, And Other Security Technologies.
Experience In Threat Intelligence: A Senior Staff Malware Reverse Engineer Should Have A Proven Track Record In Identifying And Analyzing New And Emerging Threats. They Should Be Able To Conduct In-Depth Threat Research And Provide Actionable Intelligence To The Security Team.
Strong Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills: This Role Requires A High Level Of Analytical And Problem-Solving Skills. The Candidate Should Be Able To Think Critically And Creatively To Solve Complex Malware-Related Issues. They Should Also Be Able To Work Independently And In A Team Environment To Identify And Mitigate Security Risks.
Relevant Education And Certifications: A Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Computer Science, Information Security, Or A Related Field Is Typically Required For This Role. In Addition, Certifications Such As Grem (Giac Reverse Engineering Malware) Or Oscp (Offensive Security Certified Professional) Are Highly Desirable.
