
Senior Materials Engineer
We are looking for an innovative and experienced Senior Materials Engineer to join our team at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. This position is responsible for providing technical support to the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research and for developing and implementing advanced materials engineering projects. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 years of experience in materials engineering or a closely related field, with experience in the nuclear industry. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Engineering, or related field, and must have a strong knowledge of nuclear materials regulations, standards, and practices. In addition, the candidate must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. This is an excellent opportunity to play an integral role in protecting public health and safety by ensuring the safe operation of commercial nuclear power plants.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and expertise to the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.
- Develop and implement advanced materials engineering projects.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of nuclear materials regulations, standards, and practices.
- Ensure materials engineering projects are compliant with all applicable regulations.
- Monitor and review materials engineering projects for safety and performance.
- Prepare technical reports and documents on materials engineering projects.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging technologies in materials engineering.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Make recommendations for improvements to materials engineering processes.
- Assist with the development of training programs for new materials engineering personnel.
