Job Description

To be successful in this role, we are seeking candidates with a strong background in emergency preparedness and response, as well as knowledge of nuclear power plant operations. A degree in a related field, such as nuclear engineering or emergency management, is preferred. Additionally, excellent communication and analytical skills are necessary to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to plant staff and NRC management.   1. Conduct thorough inspections and evaluations of emergency preparedness plans and procedures at nuclear power plants.
  2. Identify and mitigate potential risks related to emergency preparedness at nuclear facilities.
  3. Ensure that emergency plans and procedures are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of emergency response training programs and drills.
  5. Review and analyze data and reports related to emergency preparedness.
  6. Communicate findings and recommendations to plant staff and NRC management.
  7. Provide guidance and assistance to nuclear facilities in developing and maintaining emergency preparedness plans.
  8. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices related to emergency preparedness.
  9. Collaborate with other NRC staff and external stakeholders to promote safety and security at nuclear facilities.
  10. Maintain accurate and thorough records of inspections and evaluations.
  11. Participate in meetings and conferences related to emergency preparedness.
  12. Continuously assess and improve emergency preparedness inspection processes.
  13. Serve as a subject matter expert on emergency preparedness during internal and external audits.
  14. Conduct training for other NRC staff on emergency preparedness procedures and regulations.
  15. Contribute to the development and implementation of emergency response policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Engineering, Environmental Science, Or Emergency Management.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Emergency Preparedness Regulations And Requirements For Nuclear Power Plants.

  • Experience Conducting Inspections Or Audits In A Regulatory Or Compliance Setting.
