- Provide legal counsel and support to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in all matters related to the regulation of nuclear materials and facilities.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to assist in the development and interpretation of laws, regulations, and policies related to nuclear safety and security.
- Represent the NRC in administrative proceedings, hearings, and court cases related to nuclear regulatory matters.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of federal laws, regulations, and policies related to the NRC's mission and ensure compliance with such laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with other NRC staff and external stakeholders to identify and address legal issues related to the safe and secure use of nuclear materials.
- Provide legal advice and guidance to NRC staff on a variety of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, enforcement actions, and licensing decisions.
- Draft and review legal documents, including legal opinions, briefs, and other legal correspondence.
- Stay informed of developments in nuclear law and regulations and provide recommendations for updates or changes to NRC policies and procedures.
- Conduct training and outreach activities to educate NRC staff and stakeholders on legal issues related to nuclear regulation.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and handle legal matters with the utmost professionalism and integrity.
- Manage a caseload and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and ensure efficient and effective legal support for the NRC.
- Continuously evaluate and improve legal processes and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness in carrying out the NRC's mission.
- Mentor and train junior legal staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School
Active Membership In Good Standing With A State Bar Association
Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, Preferably In The Field Of Nuclear Energy Or Regulatory Compliance
Knowledge And Understanding Of Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Nuclear Energy, Such As The Atomic Energy Act And The Clean Air Act
Excellent Communication And Analytical Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Interpret And Apply Complex Legal Documents And Regulations.
