- Conduct reliability analyses and tests on products and systems to identify potential areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement reliability engineering processes and procedures to ensure product and system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve reliability issues.
- Analyze data and develop reports to communicate reliability findings and recommendations to management.
- Conduct failure mode and effects analysis to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Develop and maintain reliability metrics to track and monitor product and system performance.
- Stay up-to-date with industry standards and best practices in reliability engineering.
- Lead and participate in design reviews to ensure reliability requirements are met.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers and team members.
- Continuously identify and implement improvements to increase product and system reliability.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for product failures.
- Coordinate and oversee reliability testing activities.
- Communicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure reliability requirements are met.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to reliability engineering processes and procedures.
- Train and mentor junior engineers on reliability engineering principles and practices.
Extensive Experience In Reliability Engineering: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In A Reliability Engineering Role, Preferably In The Aerospace Or Defense Industry. This Includes Experience With Reliability Analysis, Testing, And Failure Analysis.
Strong Technical Background: A Principal Reliability Engineer Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Engineering Principles And Be Familiar With Various Engineering Disciplines Such As Mechanical, Electrical, And Software. They Should Also Have Experience With Reliability Tools And Techniques, Such As Fmea, Fmeca, And Halt.
Leadership Skills: As A Principal Engineer, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Reliability Engineers. They Should Have Strong Leadership Skills And The Ability To Mentor And Guide Junior Engineers. They Should Also Be Able To Work Collaboratively With Cross-Functional Teams To Achieve Common Goals.
Knowledge Of Industry Standards And Regulations: The Candidate Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Industry Standards And Regulations Related To Reliability, Such As Mil-Hdbk-217F, Arp-4761, And Do-178B/C. They Should Also Be Familiar With Reliability And Safety Requirements For Military And Commercial Aerospace Systems.
Communication And Problem-Solving Skills: A Principal Reliability Engineer Should Have Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal. They Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate Complex Technical Concepts To Non-Technical Stakeholders. They Should Also Have Strong Problem-Solving Skills And Be Able To Think Critically To Identify And Resolve Reliability Issues.
