Conduct research and development in computational methods and data analysis to support cutting-edge solutions for clients.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement computational models and algorithms.
Utilize advanced analytical techniques to analyze and interpret complex data sets and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
Act as a subject matter expert in computational science, staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements.
Lead and mentor junior team members in utilizing computational tools and techniques.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their needs and provide innovative solutions.
Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness of computational methods.
Communicate project status and progress to management and stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Participate in conferences and workshops to present research and represent the company.
Collaborate with business development teams to identify and pursue new opportunities for the company.
Contribute to the development of proposals and assist with contract negotiations.
Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all work and results.

Job Qualifications

Advanced Degree In Computational Science Or Related Field: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Ph.d. Or Master's Degree In Computational Science Or A Closely Related Field Such As Computer Science, Mathematics, Or Physics. This Advanced Degree Demonstrates A Strong Foundation In The Principles Of Computational Science And The Ability To Apply Them In A Variety Of Domains.
Extensive Experience In High-Performance Computing (Hpc): The Principal Computational Scientist Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Hpc Systems, Architecture, And Software Tools. They Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Developing And Implementing Efficient Algorithms And Parallel Processing Techniques To Solve Complex Computational Problems.
Proficiency In Programming Languages And Frameworks: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Background In Programming Languages And Frameworks Such As Python, C++, Java, And Matlab. They Should Also Possess Experience In Developing Software Tools And Applications For Data Analysis, Visualization, And Simulation.
Knowledge Of Scientific Domains: The Principal Computational Scientist Should Possess A Strong Understanding Of The Scientific Domains In Which Northrop Grumman Operates, Such As Aerospace, Defense, And Cybersecurity. This Knowledge Will Enable Them To Effectively Collaborate With Domain Experts And Apply Computational Techniques To Solve Real-World Problems.
Leadership And Project Management Skills: This Role Requires Strong Leadership Skills To Oversee And Guide A Team Of Computational Scientists And Engineers. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing Complex Projects, Setting And Meeting Deadlines, And Effectively Communicating With Stakeholders At All Levels Of The Organization.
