We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual to join our team as a Lecturer in Geology and Geological Engineering at the Black Hills Natural Sciences Field Station (BHNSFS).   1. Develop and deliver engaging and informative lectures on geology and geological engineering topics to undergraduate students.
  2. Collaborate with other faculty members to design and implement an effective curriculum that aligns with the university's goals and objectives.
  3. Provide hands-on instruction and field experiences for students at the Black Hills Natural Sciences Field Station, incorporating the unique natural environment into the learning experience.
  4. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  5. Assess student learning and provide timely and constructive feedback to help students achieve their academic goals.
  6. Stay current with advancements and developments in the field of geology and geological engineering, and incorporate this knowledge into course content and teaching methods.
  7. Participate in departmental meetings and committees to contribute to the overall development and improvement of the geology and geological engineering program.
  8. Mentor and advise students, providing guidance and support for their academic and career goals.
  9. Maintain a strong commitment to continuous professional development, actively seeking out opportunities for growth and improvement in teaching and research.
  10. Represent the university and the geology and geological engineering program in a professional and positive manner, both on and off-campus.

Job Qualifications
  • An Advanced Degree In Geology Or Geological Engineering, Preferably With A Focus On The Black Hills Region.

  • Previous Teaching Experience, Either At The College Level Or In A Field-Based Setting, With A Strong Understanding Of Experiential And Hands-On Learning.

  • Demonstrated Research Experience In Geology Or Geological Engineering, With A Record Of Publications Or Presentations At Professional Conferences.

  • Familiarity With The Unique Geology And Natural Resources Of The Black Hills Region, As Well As The Ability To Incorporate Local Examples And Case Studies Into Teaching And Research.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills, As Well As A Commitment To Promoting Diversity And Inclusion In The Classroom And Field Setting.
