Job Description

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Associate Localization Specialist at Nintendo! As an integral member of our localization team, you will help bring our games to life for players around the world. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and has a keen eye for cultural nuances.   1. Conduct thorough research on the target culture and language to ensure accurate localization of Nintendo games.
  2. Collaborate with the localization team to develop a comprehensive localization plan for each game.
  3. Translate game scripts, text, and other materials from Japanese to English and vice versa.
  4. Edit and proofread translated materials for accuracy, consistency, and cultural sensitivity.
  5. Identify and resolve any cultural, linguistic, or technical issues that may arise during the localization process.
  6. Communicate and collaborate with game developers, designers, and other team members to ensure the localization process meets their expectations.
  7. Stay up-to-date with the latest gaming trends, cultural references, and colloquialisms in both Japanese and English.
  8. Conduct playtesting to ensure the quality and accuracy of localized games.
  9. Assist with voice-over recording sessions and provide feedback on performances to ensure they align with the target culture and language.
  10. Monitor and track the progress of localization projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  11. Attend team meetings and provide input on localization strategies and processes.
  12. Act as a cultural consultant for the team, providing insights and advice on cultural sensitivities and best practices.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve localization processes for increased efficiency and quality.
  14. Train and mentor junior localization team members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  15. Represent Nintendo at industry events and conferences related to localization and gaming culture.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Linguistics, Localization, Or Game Design.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Localization Within The Gaming Industry.

  • Fluency In At Least Two Languages, Including English And Japanese.

  • Strong Understanding Of Cultural Sensitivities And Regional Differences.

  • Familiarity With Localization Tools And Processes, Such As Translation Memory Software And Project Management Tools.
