Welcome to New York University's exciting world of theater! We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Theater Technician-2 to join our team. As a Theater Technician-2, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and successful production of our diverse range of theatrical performances. From setting up the stage to operating sound and lighting equipment, your technical expertise and attention to detail will help bring our productions to life.   1. Set up and maintain all technical aspects of the theater, including stage, lighting, sound, and special effects equipment.
  2. Collaborate with the production team to understand the technical needs of each performance and ensure all equipment and systems are in place and functioning properly.
  3. Operate and troubleshoot lighting, sound, and special effects equipment during rehearsals and performances.
  4. Maintain a safe and clean working environment for all staff and performers.
  5. Train and supervise other theater technicians and interns as needed.
  6. Communicate effectively with production team and performers to ensure a smooth and successful production.
  7. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in theater technology to make recommendations for equipment upgrades and improvements.
  8. Assist with load-in and load-out of equipment for performances and events.
  9. Proactively identify and resolve technical issues during performances to minimize disruptions.
  10. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure the well-being of all involved in the production.
  11. Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, and coordinate repairs and replacements as needed.
  12. Collaborate with the production team to create and execute special effects and technical elements for performances.
  13. Attend production meetings and provide input on technical aspects of the production.
  14. Work closely with the stage manager to ensure smooth transitions between scenes and technical cues.
  15. Maintain a positive and professional attitude while representing the theater to performers, production team, and audience members.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Theater Or Related Field

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience Working As A Theater Technician

  • Proficiency In Operating And Troubleshooting Various Technical Equipment, Such As Lighting And Sound Systems

  • Knowledge Of Industry Safety Standards And Regulations

  • Strong Communication And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Team Of Professionals.
