
Security Operations Center (SOC) Manager

- Oversee the daily operations of the Security Operations Center (SOC) at New York University.
- Manage a team of security analysts and engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
- Develop and implement strategies to proactively identify and mitigate security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Monitor and analyze security alerts and events, taking appropriate action to address potential risks.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments of the university's network and systems to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify security needs and implement solutions.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans and procedures to effectively handle security incidents.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, technologies, and threats, and make recommendations for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with university leadership and other stakeholders to provide updates on security status and risks.
- Manage budget, resources, and vendor relationships related to SOC operations.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the SOC team.
- Ensure all security policies, procedures, and guidelines are documented and regularly reviewed and updated.
- Train and educate university staff on security best practices and awareness.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support and incident response.
- Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.
Strong Technical Knowledge And Experience In Information Security, Including Experience With Security Tools And Technologies Such As Siem, Vulnerability Management, And Incident Response.
Extensive Experience Managing And Leading A Team Of Security Analysts And Engineers, Including Hiring, Training, And Mentoring.
In-Depth Understanding Of Security Frameworks, Regulations, And Compliance Requirements, Such As Gdpr, Hipaa, And Nist.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Collaborate With Cross-Functional Teams And Communicate Complex Security Issues To Non-Technical Stakeholders.
Demonstrated Experience In Developing And Implementing Security Policies, Procedures, And Standards To Ensure The Protection Of Sensitive Data And Resources.
