Welcome to the Grey Art Museum at New York University! We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Director to lead our prestigious institution.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives for the museum in collaboration with the board of directors and other stakeholders.
  2. Provide leadership and direction to all museum staff, including curators, educators, and administrative personnel.
  3. Oversee the museum's budget and financial management, ensuring responsible and efficient use of resources.
  4. Foster a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the museum, both in terms of the artwork exhibited and the staff and visitors.
  5. Maintain relationships with artists, collectors, and other key stakeholders in the art world to further the museum's mission and vision.
  6. Curate and oversee the acquisition of new artworks for the museum's collection, ensuring a diverse and relevant collection.
  7. Plan and organize exhibitions and programs that align with the museum's mission and engage and educate the public.
  8. Collaborate with other institutions and organizations to further the museum's reach and impact.
  9. Develop and maintain relationships with donors and secure funding for the museum through grants, sponsorships, and other means.
  10. Stay informed about current trends and issues in the art world, and use this knowledge to inform decisions and strategies for the museum.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Museum Management: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience In Museum Management, With A Proven Track Record Of Successful Leadership And Strategic Planning.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Art History: As The Director Of Grey Art Museum, The Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding And Appreciation Of Art History, With A Particular Focus On Contemporary And Modern Art.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Role Requires The Director To Work Closely With A Diverse Range Of Stakeholders Including Staff, Donors, And Community Members. The Candidate Should Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Engage And Collaborate With These Groups.

  • Demonstrated Fundraising Abilities: The Director Will Be Responsible For Securing Funding And Building Relationships With Donors To Support The Museum's Operations And Programming. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successful Fundraising And Development Initiatives.

  • Advanced Degree In Art History Or Related Field: A Graduate Degree In Art History, Museum Studies, Or A Related Field Is Highly Desirable For This Position. It Demonstrates A Strong Academic Foundation And Deep Understanding Of The Art World That Is Critical For The Role Of Director.
