Job Description

Welcome to New York University's Office of Development! We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Development Associate to join our Individual Giving team. As a Development Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting and advancing NYU's fundraising efforts for our diverse academic programs, student scholarships, and research initiatives. We are looking for a driven individual with a strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.   1. Support the Individual Giving team in achieving fundraising goals for NYU's academic programs, student scholarships, and research initiatives.
  2. Conduct research and identify potential donors and funding opportunities, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  3. Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, including stewardship and recognition efforts.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues across departments to coordinate fundraising efforts and maximize impact.
  5. Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
  6. Create and manage donor communications, including letters, emails, and social media posts.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records and reports.
  8. Provide administrative support, such as scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and managing donor databases.
  9. Stay up-to-date on philanthropic trends, best practices, and regulations to inform fundraising strategies.
  10. Serve as a brand ambassador for NYU, promoting its mission and impact to donors and the public.
  11. Uphold high ethical standards and maintain confidentiality in all donor interactions.
  12. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment within the Office of Development and with other departments.
  13. Continuously evaluate and improve fundraising strategies and processes to achieve greater success.
  14. Represent NYU at external events and conferences to build relationships and promote fundraising initiatives.
  15. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Non-Profit Management, Fundraising, Or Communications.

  • Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Individual Giving, Preferably In A Higher Education Setting.

  • Strong Understanding Of Fundraising Principles And Best Practices, Including Donor Cultivation, Stewardship, And Solicitation Strategies.

  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills, With The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Donors And Other Stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated Ability To Work Independently And As Part Of A Team, With A Track Record Of Meeting Fundraising Goals And Managing Multiple Projects Simultaneously.
