We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Director to join our team at the Steinhardt Writing Center at New York University. As the Associate Director, you will play a crucial role in supporting the academic success of our students by overseeing the operations of the Writing Center and providing guidance and mentorship to our team of writing tutors. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our center and contribute to the development of our students' writing skills.   1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Steinhardt Writing Center at New York University.
  2. Provide guidance and mentorship to the team of writing tutors.
  3. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth functioning of the Writing Center.
  4. Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote the Writing Center's services and resources.
  5. Work closely with students to understand their needs and provide tailored support.
  6. Conduct writing workshops and seminars to enhance students' writing skills.
  7. Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the Writing Center's programs and services.
  8. Manage the budget and resources of the Writing Center.
  9. Recruit, train, and supervise writing tutors.
  10. Foster a positive and inclusive environment for students and staff.
  11. Stay updated on current trends and best practices in writing instruction and tutoring.
  12. Serve as a liaison between the Writing Center and other departments and organizations within the university.
  13. Represent the Writing Center at university events and conferences.
  14. Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement cross-disciplinary writing initiatives.
  15. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Writing Center's website and social media platforms.
  16. Handle any conflicts or issues that may arise within the Writing Center.
  17. Continuously seek opportunities for improvement and growth for the Writing Center.
  18. Collaborate with other university resources to provide comprehensive support for students.
  19. Serve as a role model and mentor for students and writing tutors.
  20. Uphold the values and mission of the Writing Center and New York University.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Written And Verbal Communication Skills

  • Master's Degree In English, Writing, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 3 Years Experience In Writing Center Administration Or Tutoring

  • Strong Understanding Of Composition Theory And Best Practices In Writing Instruction

  • Ability To Manage A Team Of Tutors And Collaborate With Faculty Across Disciplines To Support Student Writing Development.
