As an Associate Director, you will play a vital role in guiding and supporting our students as they navigate their academic and career paths.   1. Provide expert guidance and support to students in their pursuit of preprofessional paths, including but not limited to medicine, law, and business.
  2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff to effectively advise and advocate for students' academic and career needs.
  3. Collaborate with other departments and resources at NYU to ensure students have access to the best resources and opportunities.
  4. Develop and implement programming and workshops to prepare students for admission to professional schools and careers in their chosen fields.
  5. Stay current on industry trends and changes in admission criteria for preprofessional programs, sharing this information with students and colleagues.
  6. Maintain accurate records and provide reports on student progress and outcomes.
  7. Serve as a liaison between NYU and external preprofessional programs and organizations, building and maintaining partnerships to benefit students.
  8. Supervise and mentor a team of preprofessional advisors, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
  9. Represent the Office of Preprofessional Advising at university events and serve on committees related to preprofessional education.
  10. Continuously assess and improve upon advising methods and strategies to best meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  11. Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in preprofessional advising and student support.
  12. Work closely with students to identify and address any barriers to their success, providing appropriate referrals to resources as needed.
  13. Contribute to the overall mission and goals of the Office of Preprofessional Advising and the university as a whole.

Job Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work With A Diverse Student Population.

  • A Master's Degree In Higher Education, Counseling, Or A Related Field.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Academic Advising Or Career Counseling, Preferably In A Preprofessional Advising Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Graduate And Professional School Application Processes, Including Admissions Requirements And Standardized Testing.

  • Demonstrated Leadership Skills And The Ability To Manage A Team Of Advisors Effectively.
