Job Description

Welcome to the New York Power Authority, the nation's largest state-owned electric utility. We are currently seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Part-Time Tour Guide to join our team in showcasing the incredible history and operations of our power plants. As a Tour Guide, you will have the opportunity to educate visitors from around the world on the importance of sustainable energy and the innovative technologies used at our facilities. If you have a genuine love for sharing information and a desire to make a positive impact on the environment, we would love to have you join us.

  1. Create an engaging and informative tour experience for visitors by leading them through our power plants and explaining the history, operations, and technologies used.
  2. Share knowledge about sustainable energy and the importance of utilizing it in our daily lives, in order to educate visitors and promote environmentally-friendly practices.
  3. Conduct thorough research on the history and operations of our power plants to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is presented to visitors.
  4. Develop and maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere for visitors during tours, being mindful of their safety and comfort.
  5. Answer questions and address concerns from visitors in a knowledgeable and professional manner, providing additional resources or references as needed.
  6. Collaborate with other tour guides and staff to continuously improve the tour experience and develop new ideas to attract visitors.
  7. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while conducting tours, ensuring the well-being of both visitors and staff.
  8. Assist in administrative tasks such as scheduling tours, processing payments, and maintaining accurate records.
  9. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and advancements in sustainable energy to continuously enhance tour content and delivery.
  10. Represent the New York Power Authority in a positive and professional manner, promoting our mission and values to visitors and the public.

  • Excellent Communication Skills: A Part-Time Tour Guide At New York Power Authority Must Have Strong Communication Skills To Effectively Interact With Visitors And Provide Them With Information About The Power Plant And Its Operations.

  • Knowledge Of New York Power Authority: Candidates Should Have A Good Understanding Of The History, Operations, And Mission Of New York Power Authority To Provide Accurate And Engaging Tours To Visitors.

  • Customer Service Experience: As A Tour Guide, The Candidate Will Interact With A Diverse Group Of Visitors. Previous Experience In Customer Service Will Be Beneficial In Handling Different Types Of Visitors And Ensuring A Positive Experience For All.

  • Educational Background: A Degree In A Relevant Field Such As History, Communications, Or Business Administration Is Preferred For This Role. It Can Demonstrate A Strong Foundation In The Subject Matter And The Ability To Convey Information Effectively.

  • Physical Fitness And Stamina: The Job Of A Tour Guide Requires Standing And Walking For Extended Periods, As Well As Navigating Through The Power Plant. Therefore, The Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Have The Stamina To Lead Multiple Tours Per Day.
