- Provide legal advice and support for specialized financial products and services offered by Nationwide Mutual Insurance.
- Serve as a key member of the Specialty Finance and Financial Risk Solutions team.
- Utilize deep understanding of financial risk management to help develop and maintain effective risk management strategies.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Draft and review contracts, agreements, and other legal documents related to financial products and services.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure legal compliance and mitigate potential risks.
- Stay informed about industry trends and changes in financial regulations to ensure Nationwide's continued success.
- Advise and educate colleagues on legal matters relating to financial products and services.
- Represent Nationwide in negotiations and discussions with external partners and clients.
- Provide guidance and training to junior legal team members as needed.
- Maintain accurate and organized legal documentation related to financial products and services.
- Continuously monitor and assess potential legal risks and make recommendations for mitigation strategies.
- Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management.

Expertise In Specialty Finance: A Senior Counsel For Specialty Finance/Financial Risk Solutions At Nationwide Mutual Insurance Should Have Extensive Knowledge And Experience In The Specialty Finance Industry, Including Commercial Lending, Asset-Backed Securities, And Other Financial Risk Solutions.
Legal Background: This Role Requires A Juris Doctor Degree And A Minimum Of 7-10 Years Of Experience Practicing Law, Preferably In The Financial Services Industry. A Strong Understanding Of State And Federal Laws And Regulations Related To Specialty Finance Is Also Necessary.
Risk Management Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess Strong Risk Management Skills And Be Able To Identify Potential Legal Risks And Provide Advice On Strategies To Mitigate Them. Experience With Legal Risk Assessment And Mitigation In The Financial Services Industry Is Highly Desirable.
Contract Negotiation Experience: The Senior Counsel Will Be Responsible For Negotiating And Drafting Complex Contracts And Agreements With Clients And Other Parties. Therefore, Strong Negotiation Skills And Experience In Contract Drafting Are Essential.
Team Leadership: The Senior Counsel Will Lead A Team Of Attorneys And Paralegals, So Strong Leadership Skills And The Ability To Effectively Manage And Mentor Team Members Are Crucial Qualifications. Experience Managing A Team In A Corporate Legal Department Is Preferred.
