Job Description

We are looking for a talented and highly motivated Datacenter Engineering Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at Microsoft. As the Principal Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing structural engineering elements of our data center projects, ensuring they meet all requirements and standards.To be successful in this role, you must have a professional engineering degree from an accredited university or college along with at least 10 years of experience in structural engineering and design. You should also have experience in IT systems or data center design, including applicable codes and standards, along with a proven ability to coordinate with other teams, such as electrical and mechanical.We believe you should be an excellent communicator and collaborator, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and autonomously. You should also have strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically in order to deliver innovative and cost effective solutions. Above all, you must have a passion for data center engineering and a real desire to make a difference.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and manage structural engineering elements of data center projects to meet all requirements and standards.
  2. Ensure projects adhere to applicable codes and standards.
  3. Coordinate with other teams such as electrical and mechanical.
  4. Provide innovative and cost effective solutions through creative and strategic thinking.
  5. Communicate and collaborate effectively with stakeholders and team members.
  6. Maintain a strong attention to detail when working independently.
  7. Monitor and assess project progress and costs.
  8. Identify potential risks or issues with data center projects.
  9. Develop and implement strategies to improve data center efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  10. Stay up-to-date on current trends and technologies in data center engineering.
