Patient Transporter

- Safely transport patients to and from various locations within the facility, including but not limited to patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and treatment areas.
- Assist patients with getting in and out of wheelchairs or stretchers as needed.
- Follow proper infection control and safety procedures while transporting patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare team members to ensure smooth and timely transportation.
- Maintain accurate records of patient transport activities, including documenting any delays or issues that may arise.
- Monitor patient comfort and report any concerns or changes in condition to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain and clean transportation equipment, ensuring it is in proper working condition at all times.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality.
- Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to compassionate and exceptional patient care.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient and effective patient transportation.
- Keep up-to-date with any changes or updates related to patient transport protocols and procedures.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Educational Requirement For A Patient Transporter At Meritus Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Understanding Of Academic Subjects And Can Effectively Communicate With Patients And Medical Staff.
Cpr And Basic Life Support Certification: Patient Transporters Are Often Responsible For Moving Patients With Critical Conditions, So It Is Essential For Them To Have Cpr And Basic Life Support Certification. This Qualification Ensures That The Candidate Is Trained To Handle Emergency Situations And Can Provide Immediate Assistance If Needed.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Work Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Clinic, Is Highly Preferred For A Patient Transporter At Meritus Health. This Experience Provides The Candidate With A Basic Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Patient Care, And Safety Protocols.
Strong Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In A Patient Transporter Role As They Need To Interact With Patients, Their Family Members, And Medical Staff On A Daily Basis. Strong Verbal And Written Communication Skills Are Essential For Providing Clear Instructions And Updating Relevant Parties About Patient Transportation.
Physical Fitness And Endurance: The Job Of A Patient Transporter Requires Physical Strength And Endurance As They Are Responsible For Moving Patients From One Location To Another.
