- Assist and support the surgical team during procedures in the operating room.
- Help set up the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Ensure all equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and maintained.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary assistance.
- Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment.
- Transport patients to and from the operating room as needed.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including positioning and prepping.
- Monitor and record patient vital signs during surgery.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure excellent patient care.
- Follow all infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation and records.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Operating Room Assistant At Meritus Health Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has Basic Knowledge And Skills Necessary To Perform The Job Duties.
Clinical Experience: Meritus Health Prefers Candidates With At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In An Operating Room. This Experience Helps The Candidate Understand The Dynamics And Demands Of The Or Environment.
Certification: A Valid Certification As A Surgical Technologist Or Operating Room Technician Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Certification Demonstrates The Candidate's Proficiency In The Field And Their Commitment To Ongoing Education And Professional Development.
Knowledge Of Sterile Techniques: As An Operating Room Assistant, It Is Essential To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Sterile Techniques And Infection Control Protocols. Candidates With Prior Experience In Maintaining A Sterile Environment And Handling Surgical Instruments Will Be Preferred.
Physical Stamina And Dexterity: The Role Of An Operating Room Assistant Is Physically Demanding, And Candidates Must Have The Ability To Stand For Long Periods, Lift Heavy Objects, And Handle Delicate Surgical Instruments With Precision.
