- Monitoring patients during the pre-operative period and identifying any potential risks or complications.
- Collaborating with the surgical team to plan and implement individualized care plans for patients.
- Providing education and emotional support to patients and their families regarding the surgical process and post-operative care.
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and monitoring for effectiveness and potential side effects.
- Assisting with surgical procedures, including preparing the surgical area and providing supplies and equipment as needed.
- Documenting patients' progress and any changes in their condition, as well as communicating updates to the surgical team and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensuring a safe and sterile environment in the pre and post-operative areas, following infection control protocols and maintaining proper equipment and supply levels.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement discharge plans for patients, including providing post-operative care instructions and arranging follow-up appointments.
- Participating in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices and advancements in surgical nursing.
- Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to patient care.
- Maintaining accurate and updated patient records and ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.

Previous Surgical Experience: Mercyone Seeks Candidates With Previous Surgical Experience For Their Pre/Post Surgery Department. This Could Include Experience In An Operating Room, Recovery Room, Or Other Surgical Setting.
Bls And Acls Certification: As A Nurse In A Surgical Setting, It Is Essential To Have Current Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Certifications. These Certifications Demonstrate The Nurse's Ability To Respond To Emergencies And Provide Life-Saving Interventions.
